About us

Rest Point Support 1990
The British Dutch Walking Fellowship (BDWF) was formed in 2004 out of the BT Nijmegen group.  Although we like to take part in other events our main focus is the Nijmegen Vierdaagse, an International four day march of 80, 100 or 128 miles (depending on age), in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.  We currently have in excess of 200 members who take part either because of their love of long distance walking, or because of the challenge. We are always encouraging new members to take up the challenge, and having done so most find it addictive.

Our members hail from the four countries of the UK and the Netherlands. More recently our members have come from even further afield and anyone is welcome to join. Each year we meet together and participate in the event staying together in the DeDennen sports hall approximately two kilometres from the start of the walk. The sports hall becomes our home for the week and we would like to thank them for their continued support over the years.

We are currently the largest civilian group who take part in the walk. We have an extensive support team of first aiders and drivers, a Nijmegen Event Manager and office support who help us succeed each year. Our success depends on their hard work and dedication.

Our website keeps our members informed of events all year around and alerts them of other events they may like to participate in and allows them to watch the progress of the next Vierdaagse develop.

Prospective members who enjoy walking will gain much information about us from this website.

Most of our walkers participate in the Vierdaagse as individuals, but it is also possible to walk in a team. Most years we have a 50k team, a 40k air cadet team and a 40k student team. If you would like more information about walking in a team with us or just about being a walker then please contact us.
