The Swindon Trail and Road Walking group starts training for the Nijmegen event in January. The first walk is ten miles long. The distance increases by two miles each time. Not all participants choose to go to Nijmegen. Some do it because they enjoy it and to meet and walk with friends.
The walks around this area are organised by Herman Boston, also a committee member for the BDWF. The walks are all supported with members of the first aid team and support crew.
These walks are primarily aimed at training our younger members from the surrounding area. Students from the local schools joined us in 1991 and have continued to come back year after year. It gives the students time to get to know others as well as prepare for the walk.
The schedule for the 2015 training program can be found here. If you are thinking of joining then please contact Herman Boston prior to a walk. Unless you are an experienced walker it is not ideal to start the training sessions after Mid March.
